Mission Statement

LESLIE’S WEEK purpose is to address, coordinate, and provide aid and relief to Stage 4 Breast Cancer women and provide a future for their children. Stage 4 Breast Cancer is terminal. We sustain a breast cancer program whose cancer centers select Stage 4 Breast Cancer women and their families for a donated vacation away from cancer which includes entertainment venue tickets, event programs for the women, children, and husbands, and accommodations. Our LESLIE'S WEEK Educational Assistance Fund supports the future of the children when their mother succumbs to her disease. Our LESLIE'S KIDS Grants are exclusive to schools of higher education and in the mother's name. Stage 4 Breast Cancer families are in financial toxicity and are unable to afford luxury family vacations where they may make Memories that Outlast Cancer with their families. We serve the entire family.

Description

I am Sandra Gunn, Founder, and CEO of LESLIE'S WEEK. In 2013 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Diagnosed Mastectomy patients like myself were asked to attend the "Gear-Up Workshop" so we would know what to expect when our breasts were removed. I met Stage 4 Breast Cancer women in this workshop. I made the commitment to make a difference in their lives and bring their Stage 4 terminal breast cancer cause out of the shadows and into the light. It is my mission to give these forgotten women and their families vacations away from cancer where they may Make Memories that Outlast Cancer. During the 6 years of my passion for this nonprofit we have hosted 81 families, from more than 23 states, and more than 500 individual family members. LESLIE'S WEEK achieved national awards that may be seen on our website, i.e. the L'Oreal Paris USA 10 Women of Worth, 2016, "the one hundred everyday amazing" from Mass General Cancer Institute 2015, Breast Cancer Wellness Magazine 2017 "Community Breast Cancer Nonprofit of the Year, and others.
