Mission Statement

Revolution Workshop provides an accredited carpentry and design workforce development program, while helping to deliver financial independence to Chicago’s residents in distressed communities. We do this through the building of skills, hope and resilience.

Description

Revolution Workshop, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, was formed in August 2017 by a general contractor, a businessman, and workforce development thought leaders. The genesis of the organization was created out of a deep desire to be a part of the solution to two key challenges:
1) Help reduce the inequity in Chicago by providing accredited training and social support services to marginalized residents in distressed communities that would lead to financial independence.

2) Provide trained workers to skilled trades employers to help reduce the acute talent shortage that exists in this job sector and appears to be worsening each year.
In addition to providing accredited training, Revolution Workshop is also uniquely positioned to include a social enterprise. Specifically, trainees will be building fine, custom woodworking products for both individuals and the commercial sector. The leaders of Revolution Workshop have witnessed the powerful positive impact that creating functional fine woodworking products has upon both the buyer and creator of these items. Offering an opportunity to interact and form a bond of kinship between the buyer and creator of the woodworking is a key and transformative component to our model.
