Mission Statement

Daring Adventures is a nonprofit organization committed to improving the lives of individuals with disabilities and significant life challenges through the power of outdoor recreation. We provide ACCESS to recreation and public lands. We EMPOWER individuals to meet new challenges. We TRANSFORM lives with self-confidence and self-empowerment.

Description

Formerly known as River of Dreams, Daring Adventures began in 1991 as a City of Phoenix Parks & Recreation program. When the city shuttered the adaptive recreation component in 2011, a group of committed volunteers saw its value and took on the responsibility to fundraise and continue the life-changing activities for this underserved population.

Over the past 27 years, Daring Adventures has taken more than 2000 people whitewater rafting. Our programs have expanded to include adaptive hiking, cycling, cross-country skiing, kayaking, sled hockey and more. These events are possible due to Daring Adventures large variety of adaptive recreational equipment including bikes, sit skis, kayaks, etc. Since branching out on its own from the City just a few years ago, the organization has grown three-fold. In 2017, we served more than 1900 participants, hosted 100+ activities and received 3900+ volunteer hours valued at over $76,185!
