Mission Statement

First, our mission is to promote the art of film-making in all its various forms. We provide an avenue where filmmakers, from all walks of life and from anywhere in the world, can showcase their work. Second, the Azalea Film Festival supports those who struggle with autism. Autism Spectrum Disorder, or ASD, affects 1 in 68 children born every day. There is no cure. Because ASD is so diverse, the cost of various forms of therapy generally are not covered by insurance creating a financial burden and stress on families. Families can easily spend thousands of dollars in therapy costs alone. Children with ASD need early intervention and for some it would be nearly impossible without support.

Description

Each year, we present films from all over the world covering almost every genre imaginable. The 2 day event is used to promote films and the filmmakers. Generally speaking, while the films are intended to entertain our guests, some are to educate and inform our guests about a variety of subjects including autism awareness and acceptance. Our proceeds from the festival are then used to help children with autism and their families in a variety of ways. In the past, we have provided scholarships to children to attend Dance Without Limits (another great organization) which allows children who, for one reason or another, are unable to take dance lessons in a typical setting.
