Hospice is often a scary word but there is so much hope to be found in hospice and all it provides. One of the amazing ways we serve our patients, and their families, is through our volunteer program. Volunteers provide companionship and socialization, assist with errands, provide caregiver relief by sitting with patients for their caregivers to attend an appointment, run an errand, or just take a moment to step away. Often our patients are homebound so having someone to visit provides a lot of joy! Regency Southerncare Hospice serves and provides care for terminally ill patients and their families throughout Colquitt County and surrounding counties. This includes, but is not limited to, Ben Hill, Irwin, Berrien, Lanier, Lowndes, Brooks, Thomas, Mitchell, Cook, Tift, Worth, Turner, Lee, and Dougherty counties. As we care for people throughout Southern GA, there is a good chance we are caring for someone right out your back door.

One of the amazing ways we serve our patients, and their families, is through our volunteer program Regency Southerncare Hospice serves and provides care for terminally ill patients and their families throughout Colquitt County and surrounding counties. This includes, but is not limited to, Ben Hill, Irwin, Berrien, Lanier, Lowndes, Brooks, Thomas, Mitchell, Cook, Tift, Worth, Turner, Lee, and Dougherty counties. As we care for people throughout Southern GA, there is a good chance we are caring for someone right out your back door. A Vigil Volunteer provides a supportive presence for the patient and or family in the patient’s projected final hours of life. Support can be provided to patients who have no family to be with them or to provide support and guidance to family abd caregivers, heping to relieve the unknown. Support may include: -Providing a calm presence -Talking and listening to the family/caregivers, or even sharing silence -Reading a comforting poem, prayer, or scripture -Listening to soothing music -Sitting quietly at patient’s bedside

This includes, but is not limited to, Ben Hill, Irwin, Berrien, Lanier, Lowndes, Brooks, Thomas, Mitchell, Cook, Tift, Worth, Turner, Lee, and Dougherty counties. Hospice is often a scary word but there is so much hope to be found in hospice and all it provides. One of the amazing ways we serve our patients, and their families, is through our volunteer program. We have administrative volunteer opportunities to help with things around the office, organize supplies, mail letters, answer telephones, make phone calls to patients, etc.

One of the amazing ways we serve our patients, and their families, is through our volunteer program. Provide companionship and support to patients and family members through the utilization of a certified therapy animal. Both the volunteer and the certified therapy animal provide comfort, companionship and a welcome distraction to the patient and family. Essentials: * Pet therapy certification from an approved program* * Current immunization records (rabies and distemper) and health screen for the pet, updated annually as required * Therapy animal/handler liability insurance coverage Dogs must be certified through an AKC recognized therapy dog organization.

Volunteers provide companionship and socialization, assist with errands, provide caregiver relief by sitting with patients for their caregivers to attend an appointment, run an errand, or just take a moment to step away. Often our patients are homebound so having someone to visit provides a lot of joy! Regency Southerncare Hospice is proud to partner with We Honor Veterans to better serve our patients who have served their country. We recruit veteran volunteers and active-duty military to assist with things like Vet-to-Vet companionship visits, bedside pinnings and recognition.
