Mission Statement

Healing after suicide through art and community.

Your Art Your Story is a registered Arizona non profit founded in 2018 by suicide loss survivors. Our mission is to support families and children affected by suicide and provide them an opportunity to heal emotional trauma with dignity and support. Recent studies show that suicide loss survivors are 65% more likely to attempt suicide than if their loved one died by natural causes. Art programs can provide a great deal of relaxation and enjoyment to the participants, while giving them an opportunity to meet other survivors and share the bond of community.

We serve loss survivors and attempt survivors in Arizona by offering free art programs with our community partners, which include the Arizona Artists Guild, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and the Military/Veteran Resource Network. As part of our mission, we maintain several platforms to share artwork by survivors and use these platforms to raise awareness of survivor needs.

YAYS is proud to be a resource about suicide and its effect on individuals, families and communities. We love sharing our stories and letting people in the community understand the many ways they can support suicide survivors.

The head person of this non-profit is very flexible, gives constructive feedback on your work, and very patient person to volunteer with. I highly recommend volunteering for Your Art Your Story, because the person in charge of the non-profit is very caring and supports a very good cause that I can relate to.
