Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
Hennepin County 4-H supports high quality sustainable clubs and programs, which allow young people (grades Kindergarten through one year after high school) to measurably improve their learning and leadership through educational programs and applied research. We work with youth, families, volunteers, interns, and partners to provide intentional space for young people to discover their interests, develop focused skills, and then connect those skills and interests to future possibilities. Much of Hennepin County 4-H's work focuses on engaging youth in meaningful leadership opportunities. We seek to provide opportunities where youth can discover their personal leadership abilities, build critical thinking and decision-making skills, and contribute their leadership skills to making a positive impact in their community.
From our 2018 Focus Groups, Hennepin County 4-H has identified the follow goals for the 2019 year and beyond:
- Make Diversity an Asset: We will create a program where youth and adults build relationships across difference through club exchanges, creating club environments that are welcoming and inclusive, and engaging broadly diverse new volunteers and members.
- Promotion & Outreach Methods: We will r ecruit and engage a pool of volunteers who are committed to developing and delivering on promotional opportunities that reach and connect with all youth, families, and volunteers. By connect to and through wider audiences, Hennepin 4-H will become more well known in the surrounding communities (N,W,S,E), using news outlets to highlight our local 4-H clubs, events and youth.
- Inclusivity & Welcoming Environment. Strengthen the environment in Hennepin County 4-H to be more intentionally welcoming of new families.
- Youth Leadership Opportunities. Youth will lead a workshop at volunteer training about creating youth leadership avenues led by youth voice.
