Mission Statement

THE GOAL OF SOUTHWEST KIDS IN ACTION (SWKIA) IS TO HELP CHILDREN WITH VISUAL IMPAIRMENTS. *BUILD FRIENDSHIPS AND DEVELOP SOCIAL SKILLS. *INCREASE INDEPENDENCE *PROMOTE PARTICIPATION IN COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES

Description

WHEN SOUTHWEST KIDS PARTICIPANTS ARE NOT BUSY WITH NEW ACTIVITIES, THEY ENJOY BEING WITH FRIENDS WHO UNDERSTAND THEIR CHALLENGES, HELP THEM PROBLEM SOLVE, AND CELEBRATE THEIR SUCCESSES.

MONTHLY MEETINGS ARE HELD EACH MONTH, SEPTEMBER-MAY. WE ALWAYS MEET ON A SATURDAY PROVIDED BY THE FACILITY COORDINATOR AND TIMES FOR EVENTS ARE FROM 11 AM-3 PM. STUDENTS WILL BE INTRODUCED TO A VARIETY OF ART AND RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES SUCH AS GOALBALL, ARCHERY, CANOEING, AND ROCK CLIMBING.

VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED PER EACH EVENT TO HELP ASSIST WITH THE CHILDREN AS NEEDED.
