Mission Statement

Our mission is to spark teen activists and support them in becoming leaders that drive sustained local and global impact. We envision a world where all young people can participate fully at all levels of decision-making. Our core belief is that there is no minimum age for leadership.

Description

YAP helps teens (12-18) from any background build the skills, networks, and resources to create and lead advocacy campaigns on issues they are deeply passionate about. We have worked with over 1,000 teen leaders, who have:

  • influenced 32 policy outcomes at the local, state, national, and international levels
  • reached over 4,500 people in their advocacy
  • raised over $70,000 for various causes
Our program has three main components:

  1. The YOUth ACTivism Guide to Change. Participants are enrolled in our peer-created digital course to learn the basics of how to create and lead an advocacy campaign.
  2. Adult Allies Network. Each teen-led campaign receives support from an adult mentor to brainstorm ideas as well as access relevant resources and connections. Adult Allies are part of our digital Adult Allies Network, a collective learning environment to discover best practices on how to be an ally that works in genuine partnership with young people.
  3. Teen Activists Network. Participants can connect with each other, share and receive resources, and participate in webinars for public speaking, research, and other advocacy-related skills.
Our goal is to activate 10,000 teen activists by 2024.
