Companions for Seniors

Volunteers Needed.... To sit with people who are terminally ill for companionship and comfort. WE WILL TRAIN YOU. We are located in Kearny Mesa but we have opportunities around San Diego County. The best way to get involved is to contact me at Comfort and Peace Hospice, 619/250-4283 and ask for Connie, or respond through this program. We are also offering comfort care, respite care, bereavement support, and/or office support. Let's talk! Skills needed? A compassionate nature and good listening. Description of job Offering companionship/emotional support for patient and/or family members. Helping patient with activities, such as reading, writing letter/s, or simply listening to the patient or family member and holding the patient's hand.

Sitting with Seniors

Sitting with Seniors is a compassionate way to comfort those on hospice using companionship. Comfort and Peace Hospice will train and support your desire to help with this program. We are looking for people who are kind and enjoy conversation and listening. Sitting with Seniors will increase your capacity to verbalize compassion and empathy with those in need. Training and support will be available before, during and after visits. We look forward to working with you!

COVID-19 isolated people and Hospice patients were one of the hardest hit populations because they often live in Skilled nursing and Assistant living homes which were locked down. Even those in private homes were isolated from others for the last year. That is changing. As the infection rate of COVID-19 plummets, the opportunity for volunteers to visit with patients increases. We will train you to hold the hand of those who are on Hospice. We will teach you to connect, encourage and offer presence to those that have been isolated. Take the next step - Contact us! Comfort and Peace Hospice is a community based organization committed to providing the highest quality hospice care to patients, their families and close friends throughout San Diego County. We care for terminally ill patients with a wide range of illnesses including cancer, advanced cardiac disorders, advanced neurological disorders, AIDS, ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease), Multiple Sclerosis and any end stage disease.
