Mission Statement

HIPS mission is to assist female, male, and transgendered individuals engaging in sex work in Washington, DC in leading healthy lives. Utilizing a harm reduction model, HIPSâ  programs strive to address the impact that HIV/AIDS, Sexually Transmitted Infections, discrimination, poverty, violence and drug use have on the lives of individuals engaging in sex work.

Description

HIPS client centered harm reduction based programs assist D.C. area sex workers in negotiating barriers to living healthier, happier, self-determined lives. HIPS programs include: Moblile Outreach; Client Advocacy, Crisis Assistance, 24 hour toll-free Hotline and peer-based Divas Against AIDS and Street Team peer-based education and outreach programs.
