VETERANS AND FAMILY AFFAIRS CORPORATION

Description

Initially Veterans and Family Affairs was organized to act as a referral service based organization that would partner with organizations in the community that currently provide wrap around services in areas such as housing and employment, mental health, and substance abuse. After meeting Veterans and their Families in the community, we realized that some civilians have little understanding of service members or military issues, but some of these civilians suffered similar issues. Which led us to our mission of "Here for our Heroes, their Families and the Community that supports them". For the last two years our organization has partnered with a local food bank to open a small food pantry so that anyone in the community can come and get mainly can goods at anytime the office is open. Also November 17th 2018 was the second year that we hosted a Community Thanksgiving Turkey Drive. Over 200 turkeys along with all sides were distributed. Other organizations such as Red Cross, VSP, Colgate, Care More Medical, Global Cardio Care, DPSS, and other community organizations and volunteers assisted with making these events a success.
