We are preparing a proposal for a STEAM education and teacher training program for submission to the New York City Department of Education and are seeking feedback on our proposal brief. This proposed program is a continuation of our National Science Foundation-funded study on how STEAM and coding can be incorporated into regular academic learning. We are seeking education professionals to review our program proposal and give us feedback in a 15 minute Google Meet session online. Your review of our program brief should take no more than 15 minutes so the total time commitment is 30 minutes. For more info on our project, see "More About Our Program Proposal" below and more info about us under "More About Us". We will include a thank you to all reviewers in our proposal. Requirements You have STEAM teaching experience, and/or You have experience developing STEAM curriculum, and/or You have experience as an administrator, supervising the delivery of educational programs that includes one or more of the following: STEAM, Social Emotional Learning, Executive Functioning, Game-Based Learning, Teacher Professional Development. How to Participate: Email us a copy of your current resume to info@student-union.org. We will reply with our program proposal brief which will take you no more than 15 minutes to review (it’s 2 pages). After reviewing, you will use a calendly link to schedule a (no longer than) 15 minute feedback session with our program director at your convenience. You’ll answer four questions related to how we can improve the program. That’s it! More About Our Program Proposal and Student Union Our NSF-funded program study challenged us to scale the program to serve a wider field of public schools in NYC and beyond. To this end, we are applying for an NYC DOE Multi-Task Award Contract (MTAC) in the area of STEAM education and teacher professional development. Our program seeks to provide NYC public schools with student in-school or after-school hands-on STEAM learning experiences while simultaneously training their teachers to continue to offer STEAM-skills infused learning in their regular academic classes. More about us: Student Union connects college students pursuing STEAM degrees with K-12 students who are discovering early passions, skills, and confidence in STEAM. Our college-level Maker Fellow instructors apply their advanced university learning. And our budding engineers in elementary, middle, and high schools experience STEAM by building hands-on projects in in-school, afterschool, and summer camp settings (STEAM: science, tech, engineering, arts, math). https://student-union.org/ Why Participate? Contribute to Educational Innovation: Play a part in helping shape an NSF-funded program that aims to improve STEAM education in NYC schools. Gain Recognition: Participants will receive recognition in our proposal as contributing educators (if you wish). Participants are not obligated in any way to participate in the program delivery. We look forward to potentially collaborating with you and benefiting from your valuable experience and expertise!
