Mission Statement

Each year thousands of Chicagoans move into unfurnished, subsidized apartments. We believe a home is not complete without furniture. The Chicago Furniture Bank’s goal is to fully furnish as many homes as possible by allowing our clients to handpick furnishing packages, creating safety and comfort in their new environment. The Chicago Furniture Bank increases home retention rates, eases the often difficult transition to a new living situation, and reduces the cost of moving.

The Chicago Furniture Bank serves as an intermediary between Chicagoans who have extra furniture and those who need it. We provide furnishing packages to our clients that include a bed frame, box spring, mattress, couch, loveseat, table, chairs, dishware, and artwork, among other things. By recycling gently used household items, we seek to create value in three ways:

1) Furnish homes for underprivileged individuals and families

2) Provide a convenient and inexpensive service for people to donate their used household belongings

3) Reduce the amount of furniture and other goods that are dumped into landfills
