Description

  • FIRST Tech Challenge introduces young people, ages 12 to18 to the fun and excitement of science and technology while building self-confidence, knowledge, and career and life skills.
  • FIRST Tech Challenge is designed for students who want to compete head to head using an exciting sports model
  • Teams design, build, and program their robots to compete on a 12’x12’ field, in an alliance format, against other teams.
  • Robots are built from a reusable platform, powered by Android technology, and programmed using Java.
  • Teams, including coaches, mentors, and volunteers are required to develop strategy and build robots based on sound engineering principles, such as rapid prototyping.
  • Awards are given for the competition, as well as community outreach, design and other real-world accomplishments.
  • Develop strategic problem-solving, organizational, and team building skills.
  • Program emphasizes career and life skills, such as teamwork, Core Values including Gracious Professionalism (r) and Coopertition (r), problem solving, design and implementation, community engagement, research, and learning.
