Mission Statement

HopeWell seeks to enrich the lives and expand the opportunities of vulnerable individuals and families in need of love, support and safe places to grow and thrive.

Description

Founded in 1964, we carry out our mission throughout Massachusetts including Boston and Hartford, Connecticut. HopeWell began by creating the first community-based residential program for boys and launched our Intensive Foster Care Program (IFC) in 1975 which serves the most difficult to place children in a family-based setting. Our IFC program services approximately 1,000 children and adolescents annually. In the early 1980’s, family support and stabilization services were added to enable us to partner with intact families involved with the Department of Children and Families (DCF) to avoid out of home placements. We also provide a residential program for pregnant and parenting teen mothers; all of whom are in the custody of DCF. We provide the necessary supports for young women to complete their education and to develop independence as a parent and wage earner. We also provide residential services for 30 adults with developmental disabilities. Recently, we launched My First Place which supports 35 former foster youth each year by providing them with stable housing as well as education and employment services.
