Mission Statement

To assist LAPD officers in surveillance and communications.

Description

Amateur radio operators ("HamWatch") use high-power communications technology relative to their FCC licenses, in conjunction with official LAPD radio operations. Non-licensed volunteers ("CST") use low-power, restricted frequencies and radios. HamWatch and CST volunteers work directly with uniformed and under-cover LAPD officers in a variety of crime intervention and suppression operations.
