To assist the home-bound elderly and disabled of Hunterdon County to maintain their independence by enhancing their nutritional health, thereby avoiding unwanted institutionalization.

Description

The elderly nutrition services program supports congregate and home-delivered meals for people aged 60 and older. The program is designed to address problems of food insecurity, promote socialization, and promote the health and well-being of older persons through nutrition and nutrition-related services. The purposes of the program are to reduce hunger and food insecurity, promote socialization of older individuals, and promote the health and well-being of older individuals by assisting them to access nutrition and other disease prevention and health promotion services to delay the onset of adverse health conditions resulting from poor nutritional health or sedentary behavior.
