Mission Statement

Gemmed is a therapeutic empowerment course for teens and young adults with eating disorders, low self-esteem, and body image struggles. Each class consists of a creative arts activity, a family-style meal, and group therapy. As a supplemental form of support for individual therapy and/or a step down resource for those recently discharged from an inpatient facility, our goal is to reintroduce healthy eating patterns and socialization to our clients while developing their coping skills that focus on the whole person.

Description

Gemmed is a new nonprofit in Los Angeles with classes opening in the fall, mainly during afternoon and evening hours. We are looking for volunteers for our creative activity portion of our classes, which consists of an hour of volunteer time with a flexible schedule. We are looking for volunteers that specialize in: art, painting, dance, yoga, crafts, writing, comedy, acting, etc., who are looking to make a difference in the lives of teens and young adults with eating disorders and low self-esteem.
