The mission of the foundation is to build a community of colorectal cancer survivors, and their family and friends, who will work passionately to raise money to fund research that will improve the survival and quality of life of people with colon and rectal cancer.

Description

One in 20 Americans is diagnosed with colon or rectal cancer during their lifetime, and approximately half of those who get it die from this disease. Historically, 90% of people diagnosed were over age 50. However, the colorectal cancer rate in older people is decreasing thanks to screening, but rising in people under 50 at a rate of approximately 1-2% per year.

There are no other large organizations that fund colon and rectal cancer research in Minnesota. We have created the Minnesota Colorectal Cancer Research Foundation, an independent nonprofit foundation, to fund colorectal cancer research.
