Join The Longest Day Committee - an Alzheimer’s Association fundraising event! We are looking for dedicated volunteers who are ready to help end Alzheimer's and all other dementia. Over 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease and you can help lead the way to a cure! **PLEASE NOTE: We are only looking for volunteers who live in Massachusetts or New Hampshire, USA.** WHAT IS THE LONGEST DAY? The Longest Day (or TLD) is the do-it-yourself fundraising and awareness event of the Alzheimer's Association. People across the globe pick any activity, any date, and a location to invite friends, family and communities to participate and donate. On the longest day of the year--the summer solstice--we collectively honor and remember all those affected and celebrate the impact of our year round fundraising for the fight to #ENDALZ. In the Massachusetts/ New Hampshire chapter, our fundraisers host their own events such as a yoga fundraiser, hiking the white mountains, board game nights with family, a neighborhood cookout, walking a marathon, you name it! ABOUT THE VOLUNTEER ROLE: We are looking for creative and experienced volunteers to help us run and grow our Instagram presence for the signature fundraising event, The Longest Day (TLD) for our MA/NH Chapter! Volunteers would work from their own home environment and help develop and create graphics and videos for our TLD Instagram account, keep followers engaged, and help us use Instagram as a recruitment tool to bring more people to our mission and the TLD event. This is a great opportunity for a student looking to earn experience in the social media, marketing, and nonprofit space! We are happy to provide documentation for your volunteer hours. RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop and create content for our social media pages, primarily Instagram Sharing participant stories, highlighting past events, creating reels, holiday posts, etc, Work closely with TLD event manager on upcoming strategies and campaigns Keep the Instagram account active and up to date by commenting, following new accounts, posting to stories, and interacting with users Help build relationships with prospective accounts who would be a good fit for TLD QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of Google Drive Experience with Instagram and Facebook Experience with graphic design software such as Canva Ability to handle various projects and manage tasks independently and in an organized fashion Passionate and energic personality An interest in social media, marketing, nonprofit management, or fundraising Able to dedicate 3-6 hours per month on projects and meet with Event Manager We hope you will apply and volunteer for a cause you are passionate about!! In 2023, over 700 participants came together to raise over $1,000,000!! Learn more at alz.org/thelongestday. We are looking for volunteers to join our committee who can help with one or more of the options below: At home: Help write thank you notes and other mailings throughout the TLD season Researching contacts and creating a list for potential new TLD teams/ events (such as boxing clubs, pickleball facilities, companies, etc.) Reaching out to past participants by email and/or phone to encourage them to re-register for the new season, and follow up with them in a timely manner In the community: Represent The Longest Day at farmer’s markets, expos, other similar tabling events Use contacts in your community to help us strategize and expand Examples: you work closely with your church, a Facebook group, a cycling club, your company, etc. Help put up flyers in your town and community about The Longest Day, and chat with local businesses on how they can get involved Through Social Media/ Instagram: Help create graphics, reels, and other materials to share on our TLD Instagram Interact and engage with other accounts, followers, comments, etc. often Use Instagram as a recruitment tool to encourage new registrations Work with the event manager on a social media plan Additionally, all volunteers commit to: Attending bi-monthly Zoom meetings (in the evenings) year round Meeting 1 on 1 with the event manager as needed (on Zoom) Bring new ideas to the table on ways we can strategize and grow TLD Be comfortable using Google Drive Must live in Massachusetts or New Hampshire Host your own TLD event and fundraise Benefits of Volunteering for your Career Path: Reinforces skills you’re already learning in your current role, and develops new skills Connects you with like-minded socially conscious individuals working towards a greater goal Builds leadership skills and opportunities in an additional venue Provides valuable networking prospects Unites people from differing industries and backgrounds, creating a unique network outside your current role Makes you a more qualified and desirable candidate for your next job Where can I learn more?
