Mission Statement

To empower people and enrich their lives, through compassionate support and diverse services, one individual, one family at a time.

Description

BAMSI (Brockton Area Multi-Services, Inc.) is a private, non-profit human services organization providing services to adults and children with developmental disabilities, mental illness, behavioral health, and public health needs.

Founded in 1975, BAMSI is in the business of "bringing people and services together."

BAMSI transforms lives by building the capacity of individuals, families, organizations, and communities to learn, thrive, and achieve their goals. Our services promote the recovery, resiliency, and self-determination of the people we serve. As a human services leader, we strive to be the provider of choice. With an emphasis on respect and affirming the dignity of the individual, we assist persons served to manage whatever aspect of their life is causing concern. Persons served are offered choices and are empowered to make guided decisions at each step along their journey. They are encouraged to foster relationships in the community and within their families.

Really enjoyed volunteering here, Wanda, whom I met, was very kind. It was my first time helping out and I felt very useful! Everyone else was also super cool too. :)

I worked with a number of other volunteers and BAMSI staff to prepare hundreds of double grocery bags, fill them with food, move them out to a staging area, load them onto a truck, meet the truck at a local low-income, senior housing apartment building, and deliver the bags to all the tenants on BAMSI’s list. Going through all the steps it takes to move this food from the donated boxes to the doors of the people in need was a satisfying experience. Not only did I get a chance to give back to the community but I met some great people that I would not have met in my daily life - particularly now that I work from home.
