Description
REACT originated in the 1960s as an organization to provide emergency assistance to motorists through CB radio. Today REACT includes communicators with a wide range of skills in Amateur Radio, Citizens Band, General Mobile Radio Service, and Family Radio Service who train for and provide emergency communications in local and major emergencies and disasters. REACT Warning Team 6247 operates REACT's Traffic System to provide alerting and warning, coordinate our 100 Teams' response, and train operators in disaster communications. In the past 12 months we have worked on 6 hurricane responses, 1 earthquake, and 4 nor'easters, plus 5 national and 1 international disaster response exercises. Our Team is Internet based, runs weekly communications nets, and operates a virtual emergency operations center.
