Mission Statement

Our mission is to do whatever is needed to develop and test preventive treatments for Dupuytren disease and related conditions. Our core effort focuses on answering the greatest need in Dupuytren treatment: developing a Dupuytren blood test.

Description

Dupuytren Research Group was established in 2008 as the Dupuytren Foundation, advocate for Dupuytren disease by raising awareness and supporting Dupuytren research. Over time, it became clear that the biggest obstacle to progress in Dupuytren treatment was lack of a Dupuytren blood test, and that no organization was working to address this issue on a large scale. We refocused our efforts to organize and conduct research to solve this problem, launching the International Dupuytren Data Bank research study in 2015. This study has been designed specifically to develop the type of blood test needed to understand Dupuytren biology and quickly measure response to medicines.

In addition to the IDDB research project, Dupuytren Research Group works to raise Dupuytren awareness in the general public, medical societies, government institutions, and the National Institutes of Health. Our Dupuytren Library is the largest full-text collection of Dupuytren-related scientific articles, available to researchers worldwide. We also conduct smaller Dupuytren research studies and work with students interested in independent Dupuytren research.
