The Volunteer Manager will schedule and train you in the food pantry. New volunteers will complete a general volunteer orientation before being trained as a volunteer in the food pantry. Our food pantry exists to support people who have housing in the community. By supplementing their food access, community members can reallocate financial resources to other needs. This in turn, serves as a great resource to help community members experiencing poverty retain housing! Program Overview: The food pantry is open weekly on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 5:30pm - 7:00pm for individuals not staying at the Poverello Center. As a volunteer, you will need to arrive by 5:15pm and expect to leave around 7:00pm. The food pantry is stocked by our food rescue program, as well as by private donations and the Montana Food Bank Network. Position Overview: Volunteers individually or with a fellow volunteer give out food from the pantry to guests standing in the food pantry line. Volunteers must record the type of food a person receives, as well as, give out a certain amount of food depending on how many people the guest resides with.
