Mission Statement

We place spent commercial egg-laying hens otherwise destined for slaughter in forever homes where they can live out their natural lives. Through promotion and outreach, we educate others about the therapeutic benefits that come with caring for chickens. Our ultimate goal is to be the change we wish to see in this world.

Description

Second-Hen’d is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization focused on re-homing spent commercial egg-laying hens. Our goal is to educate others about the therapeutic benefit of chickens, as well as compassionate chicken care. We believe that chickens are more than just egg producers -- they can also be excellent pets, companions, therapists, bug-eaters, fertilizer-makers, and are great for composting!
