Welcome to Forever Homes for Foster Kids. For 30 years, our non-profit has specialized in locating the relatives of migrant and U.S. foster children. Our work reunites children with their families and gets them out of foster care and on to a better, brighter future. This project is now open to just five volunteers to look over laws and do research on politicians who may want to champion changes in legislation that will help protect foster children. Thousands of immigrant and foster children spend years in the system for no reason except that there are loopholes in the existing laws. We want to close those loopholes and to do so, laws need to be amended or new ones put into place. Our goal is to tighten the lid on laws with no teeth so that people are held accountable for their (in)actions that negatively impact immigrant and foster children. This is an excellent opportunity for a college student who needs community service hours or someone who wants to volunteer while putting their political education to practical use to benefit foster children. You will work with a doctoral student who is running this project. Turn your class work into real life experience. If you love research, finding an answer, and making a difference, this opportunity is for you. You are comfortable to: Make calls to get information Do research Write up the results Follow through to a conclusion Interact with politicians and their staff Work on a proposal that could become a State Bill and then a law. If this sounds like you, let us know right now. Twenty-four thousands foster teens are going to hit the streets this year with little or no safety net. You can help us save some of these kids. Resumes are appreciated so we have an idea of your skills and background We look forward to hearing from you and having you be part of the solution for many foster children.
