The Mansion on O Street(tm) everything is possible. dare to be different. - Events Internship The Journey venture beyond the safe boundaries of your imagination. - H We are looking for a superstar intern to help with an array of events including weddings, birthday parties, corporate events, retreats as well as breakfast, concerts, tea parties and more this Summer! Hands on experience in all aspects of event planning - from site visits, to set-ups, to guest management you will do it all at The Mansion. Desired Skills : - interested and eager to learn the events, marketing and promotions field - proficient with computers (word, excel, google docs, web searches, etc.) - well spoken with good phone skills - detail oriented and organized - motivated self-starter - must be positive, outgoing and creative Requirements : - must be living in the Washington DC area - to apply for this internship, you must currently be enrolled in an undergraduate program, be a current graduate level student, or have recently completed graduate studies with relevant work experience This internship is unpaid. College credit is available for students. Within all interns first week at The Mansion on O Street, they are not given a project. Instead, they help out with different aspects of The Mansion. These tasks will not necessarily correlate to what they initially thought their internship would center on but this helps us to get to know the interns before giving them a definitive project. By having them help with spur of the moment tasks their first week, we are able to better tailor internships to be a good fit for the intern as well as for The Mansion. We have been featured on the Travel Channel’s "Mega Mansions", named a Washingtonian Magazine " Hidden Gem" , and written about in numerous best selling books and prestigious magazines including National Geographic Traveler . You’ll be creating all types of content from video, to images, to blog posts that will engage and grow our audience. With our uniquely themed rooms, secret doors, and eclectic collections there is no shortage of inspiration to help you grow your skills. Come work in our thought provoking atmosphere where you’ll be walking in the footsteps of presidents and freedom fighters, historians and authors, artists and musicians, and many others. The Mansion on O Street(tm) everything is possible. dare to be different. - Photography Internship The Journey venture beyond the safe boundaries of your imagination. - H We are looking for a creative student who enjoys photography to photograph our extensive collection of artifacts as well as various programs and events at the Mansion this Summer. Our photography intern will dive in and become an integral part of our museum by helping us curate our extensive collection of books, photos, music memorabilia, instruments, and other relics as well as photograph our author events, live concerts, jam sessions, and more. Desired Qualifications : - Motivated self-starter, dependable and inquisitive - A love of storytelling - Cinematography experience - Editing experience - Proficient with computers (word, excel, google docs, web searches, etc.) - Must be positive, outgoing and creative Requirements : - Must have own camera - Must be living in the Washington DC area - To apply for this internship, you must currently be enrolled in an undergraduate program For consideration please send your resume to interns@omuseum.org This is an unpaid internship. The Mansion on O Street(tm) everything is possible. dare to be different. - Music Archivist-Curator Internship The Journey venture beyond the safe boundaries of your imagination. - H Are you a musician or music aficionado? We are looking for a creative student to assist with our extensive musical collection and various programs at the Mansion this Summer. Our Music Intern will dive in and become an integral part of our museum by helping us curate our extensive collection of albums, photos, music memorabilia, and instruments as well as help with our live concerts, jam sessions, and more. Benefits : College credit Resume building, real-world experience Access to rare memorabilia, photos, and instruments (we’re home to over 60 signed guitars including Bob Dylan, U2, Bruce Springsteen and more) Exposure to many different music genres Desired Qualifications : - Strong music & performing arts background - Passion for music (history, instruments, live concerts) - Extensive knowledge of music from various styles, genres, cultures and eras - Computer skills to include MS Word, Excel and research skills using Internet resources - Familiarity with handling of archival materials and special collections (manuscripts, visual materials, rare scores, instruments, records etc.) - Ability to research, identify and describe archival materials in a variety of formats - Ability to conduct an inventory of an archive, create a logical hierarchical organization, and develop a processing work plan - Demonstrate good judgment and ability to work independently, set priorities and maintain them, and follow through on assignments.
