Our mission is to uphold the legacy of August Wilson by presenting, documenting and celebrating African American culture and art of African people across the globe. With the support of our diverse audiences and partners, we will realize our vision to change the world locally and globally by establishing a place for all people to openly celebrate, and gain greater understanding of the African American experience and art of the African Diaspora.

Description

Named for the Pulitzer-prize winning playwright August Wilson, the African American Cultural Center is a multi-purpose venue featuring three art galleries, live performance spaces, meeting areas, and unique educational classrooms for the young and old alike. Designed by renowned architect Allison Williams, the August Wilson Center is both a visually iconic landmark welcoming visitors to the eastern entrance of the Cultural District and a beacon of cultural excellence for the global arts community.
