Our nation’s veterans served with courage and pride. When faced with a terminal illness, it is our honor at Beford Hospice, NH to give back to them. That is why we are seeking Veterans like you to provide companionship to your fellow Veterans who are on hospice service. By becoming a Veteran volunteer , your unique experiences and skills can profoundly impact the lives of your fellow Veterans, fostering a supportive and understanding environment as they navigate their end-of-life journey. You can make a lasting difference in the lives of those who have served our nation with honor and valor in a variety of ways, including: · Companionship : Providing companionship and emotional support to ease feelings of isolation and loneliness. · Caregiver Relief : Offering respite to primary caregivers, allowing them time to rest and recharge. · Pinning Ceremonies : Honoring Veteran patients with heartfelt pinning ceremonies, recognizing their service and sacrifices, and creating cherished memories for families. · Life Review : Facilitating meaningful conversations and life reviews, allowing Veterans to share their experiences. Volunteers make their own schedules!

Somersworth Hospice volunteers offer valuable support to patients and families facing terminal illnesses. Volunteers do not require any medical background and do not engage in medical or personal hygiene tasks. Our volunteers provide support in various ways, such as companionship, tuck-in calls, and caregiver relief for patients, family and caregivers. Whatever your passion or interest, there is a meaningful role for you as a volunteer with Somersworth Hospice, NH. Our volunteers create their own schedule and typically commit 2-4 hours a week. We are currently looking for volunteers for: Offering companionship Providing respite for caregivers Making weekly calls Veteran to Veteran visits and pinning ceremonies Providing administrative support Making handicraft items for patients Professional Volunteers: Massage Therapy Reiki Music therapy Pet therapy Art therapy Hairdresser/barber We provide comprehensive training to ensure you feel confident and at ease when volunteering with our hospice patients.

Beacon Hospice an Amedisys company is looking for certified Pet Therapy Volunteers to offer therapeutic non-medical support as needed to the hospice patient, family/caregiver, and staff at communities our patients reside. Volunteers must have certified dogs to be eligible for this program. We have several opportunities throughout Maine. Hospice patients enjoy having visits from certified dogs to bring them companionship, comfort, happiness and wonderful memories of their pets. Pet Therapy helps patients cope better with their medical problems, relieve stress from illness, provide comfort and companionship. Patients look forward to their next visit with these animals. If you have 30 minutes of extra time to spend with a patient and share the love of your pet with them, we would like to have you join our team.
