Mission Statement

Our mission is to empower promising youth leaders to drive positive impact in Tulsa right now and into the future.

Description

Tulsa Changemakers is an afterschool youth leadership development and action program that empowers elementary, middle, and high school students, primarily from the Nathan Hale and McLain feeder patterns, to drive positive impact in their schools and communities. Through a 25-session, semester long curriculum, Changemakers conduct a listening campaign and launch a community impact project. In 2018-19, there will be a cohort of six Changemakers at Kendall Whittier Elementary, Springdale Elementary, Ellen Ochoa Elementary, Tulsa School of Arts and Sciences, McLain 7th Grade Academy, Nathan Hale Junior High, McLain High School, and Nathan Hale High School. Each cohort is led by a Coach. We are looking for a volunteer Assistant Coach for each school to support the Coach and the cohort of Changemakers. The ideal Assistant Coach has a passion for empowering youth leaders and a skill for working with youth. We prefer Assistant Coaches that are from the communities in which they are volunteering.

Hours: At least 37.5 hours (25 sessions, 1.5 hour sessions, two sessions per week)
