The Baltimore Jazz Alliance is a non-profit membership organization dedicated to the promotion of jazz in the Baltimore area. Through print and digital media channels, as well as public outreach, the BJA provides information on the events, artists, venues, and recordings that the Baltimore jazz scene has to offer, and provides educational programs to introduce Baltimore’s youth to the history and techniques of jazz.
The Baltimore Jazz Alliance (BJA) was founded in 2003 and incorporated as a 501(c)(3) in 2012, with the mission "To better serve artists and audiences by elevating the role of jazz in the Baltimore region." Our goals included increasing visibility of existing opportunities to hear live jazz in the Baltimore area; increasing opportunities for jazz musicians to perform in the area; promoting local musicians and venues through print and digital media; and promoting jazz education for Baltimore’s next generation. Comprised of musicians, presenters, and listeners, the board and membership of the BJA share a common mission to help the Baltimore jazz scene thrive - here are a few ways we have served this mission over the years:
Baltimore Jazz Fest
Baltimore Jazz Composers Showcase
Youth Jazz Congress
BJA Big Band
Jazz for Kids
Musical Instrument Petting Zoo
The Baltimore Jazz Alliance continues to serve the local jazz community through all those and many other efforts.
