The Volunteers In Police Service (VIPS) Program helps to sustain a spirit of cooperation and partnership with the community to enhance the Denver Police Department’s ability to serve the city of Denver.
Volunteers are an integral part of our organization and have proven to be a valuable asset by increasing police responsiveness, service delivery, and information input. In addition, volunteers bring new skills and expertise to the department and serve as positive police ambassadors within the community.
In 2017, 264 volunteers gave 27,029 hours to the Denver Police Department, totaling $636,803 in added value for the City and County of Denver. Since the beginning of the VIPS Program in 2004, volunteers have given 448,135 hours, totaling a savings of more than $10.6 million.
