Mission Statement

To encourage the study and better understanding of early American life and industry in old-time Rhode Island.

Description

SCM opened in 1933 in a barn in Wickford. The museum moved to its present location in Narragansett in 1985. Seven buildings house a collection of over 20,000 artifacts representing the time period 1800 to 1940. A farm exhibit was opened in 1999.
