This organization has a really great volunteering program. It enables volunteers to do meaningful work in communities that need it. I found that Compassus cares about the experience of the volunteer. They want to make sure that you are a good fit for the patient and that you can volunteer at times that are convenient for you as well as the patient. They try to match you with patients who have similar interests and hobbies. I have found that caregivers also really appreciate volunteers because they help ease the burdens of full-time care. There are required background checks and medical tests, which take about 2 to 4 weeks total before you can begin volunteering.

I was looking for a volunteer position that involved one on one interaction and I ended up with a position through Hospice in a nursing home. I really enjoy the work, feel like I make a difference every timeI go. The schedule is quite flexible and the folks at the main office are very supportive and thankful. Solid program!
