Understanding the interconnections of life produces an appreciation and desire to conserve life in all of its forms. The Academy, through the combination of arts and sciences, fosters the complex multilevel appreciation, and ultimately conservation, of nature and wildlife.
Though a young organization, the Academy of Nature and Wildlife Arts has, in its two years, produced 25 drawing and photographty classes, provided seminars with visiting artists, developed the Paint St Louis Plein Air and Explore the Arts festivals, and provided several community based programs beinging together the arts and sciences. Our arts students volunteered theier time to provide art and photography classes with the Missouri Department of Conservation and created the natural events calendar, Hidden Gems, to connect artists and photographers to the natural events happening in the county parks.
