Mission Statement

Peace First was founded 25 years on a simple idea: If we are going to solve the world’s greatest problems - including education access, tolerance and inclusion, social justice, violence, gender equity - the single most powerful thing we must do is prepare a generation of young people with the skills and commitments to solve problems by connecting across lines of difference with compassion , standing up for ideals and others with courage , and creating collaborative change by leading with others. This is what we call peacemaking.

Description

We are dedicated to helping young people around the world become powerful peacemakers by investing in their ideas, providing them with tools and skills, connecting them with other awesome young people around the world, and sharing their stories and impact. Our digital platform provides young people with the real resources to start social innovation and justice projects right now. This includes $250 mini-grants, mentors, planning tools, and a community of young leaders just like them!

To this date, youth from 48 states and 90 countries have accepted our "Challenge"-- a call-to-action to create projects that address injustices in their community. Around $2 million has been invested directly in youth-led innovations so far. We believe in the power of young people to create a just and peaceful world--not someday in the future--but right now!
