Mission Statement

We who recognize God's providence and fidelity to God's people are dedicated to living out a covenant among ourselves and those children we serve, with absolute respect and unconditional love. That commitment calls us to serve suffering children of the street, and to protect and safeguard all children. Just as Christ in his humanity is the visible sign of God's presence among the people, our efforts together in the covenant community are a visible sign that effects the presence of God, working through the Holy Spirit among ourselves and our kids.

Description

Covenant House was founded in 1972 with the simple, profound mission to help homeless kids escape the streets. Today we are the largest privately funded charity in the Americas providing loving care and vital services to homeless, abandoned, abused, trafficked, and exploited youth. Faith Community is Covenant House's full-time volunteer program. In addition to serving our youth, volunteers live with other college graduates focused on Catholic/Christian spirituality and simple living. They dedicate their year to our program's three pillars: Service, Community, and Prayer. Service takes place in one of our shelter sites, where members work 40 hours a week helping youth get back on a healthy life path. Members are supported in this ministry by the community they live with: 3-5 other volunteers, in a home provided by the program, where prayer and spirituality are a big part of daily life. Our program is located in Anchorage, AK; Atlanta, GA; Atlantic City, NJ; and New York, NY.
