Mission Statement
The mission of Koreymonde Capuchin Rescue, Inc. is to provide housing, care, assistance and advocacy for the welfare and benefit of captive non-human primates, with primary focus on assisting white-faced capuchin monkeys who have been kept as pets. Our goal is to let monkeys be monkeys. Koreymonde operates a sanctuary to provide a permanent home for pet white-faced capuchins, and will also work to educate the public on issues of primate welfare, to discourage the purchase of primates as pets.
Description
Monkeys hold a unique fascination and appeal. A baby monkey can seem the perfect pet -- until they grow into their dangerous, destructive, wild and wonderful selves. "Humanized" but not domesticated, captive-bred monkeys have no place in a household or in nature. Koreymonde bridges the gap, providing a combination of care, attention, and environment to meet these monkeys' complex needs.
The sanctuary is a place for the monkeys, not a public attraction. We do not breed, sell, adopt out, or display monkeys. At Koreymonde, the monkeys can live out their years in social groups, enjoying a natural, enriching environment suited to their species.
