Mission Statement

The mission of the Guardian Ad Litem Program is to advocate for the best interests of children in judicial proceedings. The GAL Program recruits, trains and supervises volunteers to represent the best interests of children in juvenile dependency, criminal and family cases.

Description

Thousands of abused and neglected children become the subject of judicial proceedings each year in Florida. Their voices are often unheard, and best interests overlooked in the complicated and overburdened adversary process. Guardians Ad Litem are citizens who volunteer to become part of a court program to represent the best interests of an assigned child. The Guardian Ad Litem Program recruits and trains these volunteers and assists the Guardians Ad Litem in their advocacy for the children whose best interests they represent.
