Description

The Jerome County Historical Society was established in 1981. The Museum is located in the original Southern Idaho Railway Depot at 212 East First Street, east of the Post Office. Hours of operation are Tuesday through Saturday 1 pm to 5 pm except holidays and Live History Day. Museum office 208-324-5641. Exhibits include North Side irrigation project, agricultural replicas and photos, and early photos of the communities of Jerome County: Jerome, Eden and Hazelton. Artifacts of everyday life in households, schools and military from 1907 when the city of Jerome began to the 1960s. A large exhibit of the history and artifacts of the Minidoka Japanese-American relocation camp, just east of Jerome, from 1942 through 1945: known locally as the Hunt Camp. Available at the Museum are bound North Side News weekly papers from 1908 to 2008, historical books of the County, area family stories, written documents some with video to view.
