Mission Statement

In support of the Library of Congress' Veterans History Project, we will travel the country documenting the stories our veterans and their families and bring them our nations capital.

Description

Hello, my name is Keith Sherman and as the president of the Gold Star Dirt Organization and a Navy Veteran of 26 years, my mission is this.

In 2016, the House of Representatives passed House Resolution 4511, the Gold Star Family Voices Act. This allows these stories to be documented and filed in the archives of our nation’s oldest library for others to view these first-hand accounts. Through our Web-Series and also in support of the Library of Congress’, Veterans History Project, we are hitting the road to travel to the home towns of these service members and meet the Gold Star Families to document these accounts. Now these time-honored stories can be told and disseminated for all to see.

By viewing these stories, the nation will have a better understanding of what sacrifices service members and their families have to endure in keeping this nation free. It is said that, freedom is not free. These stories are necessary to understand the true cost of freedom, as well as understanding how our communities come together to help one another during these difficult times of loss.

As the president of The Gold Star Dirt Organization, I will personally be driving across the nation to document what the true cost of freedom is. We will launch our nationwide journey on August 15th, 2018. How far we are able to travel, and how many Gold Star Family Voices we are able to document, depends entirely on your support.
