Mission Statement

Chronic stroke survivors, due to their physical and psychosocial impairments have poor balance during walking leading to increased risk of falls. Here at our laboratory, our research study aims to train balance in such individuals using perturbation training paradigms. The larger aim of this clinical trial is to improve balance, reduce falls and thereby improve the quality of life of chronic stroke survivors.

Description

We have been training and testing balance in healthy older adults using perturbation training paradigm, which is a unique method to improve balance. With our experience over the past 8-10 years, we have found that perturbation training has helped to reduce falls in older adults and thereby improve the quality of life.
