Aeon for Ocean (AFO), a 501(c)(3), Our mission is to educate and increase awareness about ocean conservation and marine life amongst kids and their greater role in spreading the message to drive action. We are looking for someone to help support and expand our community engagement. Job Description Develop content, provide leadership to Associates by assisting in brainstorming, editing, and developing content for articles, blogs and newsletter for the Aeon for Ocean publication. Responsibility Edit one to two research-based articles per month for K to 12 Audience and correct spelling errors, punctuation, and syntax Help brainstorm ideas and content for the monthly newsletter Assist associate in the design/develop Aeon for Ocean’s monthly newsletter Approve all article and design topics Responsible for fact checking digital content by reviewing articles for facts to be verified and evaluating sources for quality and viability as well as research facts, stats, and quotes for inconsistencies. Provide helpful critiques, notes, and feed for associates work Communicate regularly with associates and work closely with management to make discerning editorial decisions and important particulars regarding publication Qualifications Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and details simultaneously Bachelor degree, preferably in Communications, Journalism, English, or equivalent experience Previous editing or publishing experience preferred Strong knowledge of English language, spelling, grammar and style Requires self-direction, tact, diplomacy and a clear, courteous and professional manner when dealing with the public Must demonstrate effective oral communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with staff inside and outside of the department How to apply: If interested in this position, please send your resume to hr@aeonforocean.org. Job Description The community engagement manager works on all aspects of internal and external communications with the executive committee, supporters and the public. In addition, assists with the delivery of education and volunteer programs. Roles & Responsibilities Responsible for coordinating public outreach programs for Aeon For Ocean Develop and organize educational programs and activities for volunteers, community and the City. Write and create presentations, press action requests, newsletter articles, brochures, flyers and other public awareness materials for sustainability volunteer programs Participate in local, regional, and national organizations focused on environmental education, volunteerism and community outreach goals and objectives. Assist in the outreach efforts with new & existing partners (i.e. non-profits, local entities) Maintain continuous lines of communication, keeping the Executive Director informed of all critical issues. Represent the organization externally, as necessary. Role Description The Director of Operations is to lead all internal operations and tap into the power that each member of the team brings to this mission and reporting to the Founder and Executive Director of AEON FOR OCEAN. Strategy, Vision and Leadership Advise the Executive Director and other key members on financial planning, budgeting, cash flow, investment priorities, and policy matters. Serve as the management liaison to the board and audit committee; effectively communicate and present critical financial matters at select board of directors and committee meetings. Contribute to the development of AEON FOR OCEAN’s strategic goals and objectives as well as the overall management of the organization. Maintain continuous lines of communication, keeping the Executive Director informed of all critical issues. Represent the organization externally, as necessary, particularly in banking and lease negotiations. Team Development/Leadership Oversee, direct, and organize the work of the operations teams and organizational budget Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality. Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, conduct annual performance appraisals, etc. Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach: assign accountabilities; set objectives; establish priorities; and monitor and evaluate results. Operations Upgrade and implement an appropriate system of policies, internal controls, accounting standards, and procedures. Plan, coordinate, and execute the annual budget process by working closely with Treasurer. Ensure that AEON FOR OCEAN is adhering to the strategic plan, delivering status reports to the board. Provide analytical support to AEON FOR OCEAN’s internal management team including development of internal management reporting capabilities. Improve administrative and operational accounting services such as treasury management, grants payment processing, accounts payable, and purchasing.

Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education, Educational Technology, Instructional Design or equivalent work experience. Experience in research and data analysis such as natural and environmental science or other related fields. Equivalencies of education and experience may also be considered. Work experience as a teacher preferably middle school or high school level, curriculum designer, or instructional designer Comfortable learning and using a variety of technical solutions to complete project deliverables. Precision, accuracy and high attention to detail in all aspects of work. Strong ability to self-motivate, multi-task and prioritize effectively. Very comfortable working in a virtual team environment incorporating group problem-solving; shares information and responsibility. Knowledge of Common Core State Standards and incorporating standards into the curriculum. Education and/or work experience with online learning environments, Learning Management Software, game design, etc. is a plus.
