Mission Statement
Learning to ride a bike is the basis for the iCan Bike camp week for individuals with disabilities. iCan Bike provides success through the experience of riding a bike. Every effort made by the individual is acknowledged. Recreational skills can be difficult to master, so breaking skills into small, achievable goals and celebrating each accomplishment builds self-esteem and confidence needed to continue to learn to ride. Participants undergo a transformation from not believing they are able to ride a bike to believing "iCan".
Description
iCan Bike is new to Morris County so volunteers are needed to help make the program successful. Other iCan Bike programs have reported 80% success rate. We wanted to bring the opportunity for people with disabilities to learn to ride a two wheeled bike. The goal is to have a full camp of 40 participants with 2-3 volunteer spotters for each rider. Volunteers will be trained by the camp director who also monitors the progress of the riders during the week.
