Mission Statement
Community Connections is a 501c3 non-profit organization that creates free extracurricular activities for children with special needs and support for their families. It is the mission of Community Connections to: -Provide quality, self-esteem building extra-curricular activities for children with developmental disabilities and delays. -Give parents and family members of children with disabilities a safe environment for education and support. -Empower children and families with information and training to maximize the quality of life and developmental potential of children and young adults affected by autism spectrum disorders.
Description
Community Connections is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children with disabilities and their families. Many children with special needs live in a cycle of school and therapy with little opportunity for extra-curricular activity. At the same time, families of children who are diagnosed with disabilities often lack a support network. Community Connections was established in 2005 when Todd and Amy Denton (owners of Pediatrics Plus Therapy Services) and some of their staff saw that many children with disabilities did not have the opportunity to play sports and participate in the arts like their typically developing siblings and peers. From this need, Community Connections was created to provide extra-curricular activities for children with disabilities and support for their families.
Community Connections is already serving over 600 children and their families per year in Central Arkansas, where the organization was first established. Community Connections is thrilled to be expanding into Texas to create new recreational activities and develop a support system for the children and families of North Texas.
