Bay Area Community Resources (BACR) is a group of nonprofit agencies that provide direct services to youth in local schools. BACR MentorCorps believes that mentors, self-motivated adults who serve as positive role models, can be effective in promoting the development of today's youth by engaging them in meaningful activities and exposing them to new opportunities. Mentors fill a distinct need in the life of a youth by providing access to an adult who neither judges nor disciplines, and who does not bear the responsibilities of a parent or teacher, but cares enough both to be available and to remind the youth to consider the consequences of his/her actions.
