Description

The Vision of Soft Landings Parrot Rescue Inc.: We believe that every parrot kept as a companion animal deserves to:
1. Have a safe, clean environment in which to live with access to fresh food and plenty of clean water.
2. Have housing of adequate size to allow for free movement and exercise.
3. Have access to proper avian veterinary care.
4. Have sufficient daily companion interaction and enrichment activities.
5. Not be thought of as a "starter bird." Companion parrots of all sizes, from parakeets to the largest macaw, deserve to be thought of as lifetime family members and not as a stepping stone to another species.

To accomplish this vision we will:
1. Educate current/future companions/owners and the general public to the special needs of parrots, to include, but not limited to; long term commitment involved, the importance of daily companion interaction and enrichment activities.
2. Educate the public about the benefits of adopting versus purchasing from a breeder.
3. Provide a place for companion parrots that are in need of a safe haven while between homes.
4. Make every effort to help companion parrots to stay in their current location unless the parrot’s health or safety is in question.
5. Make every effort to find a suitable Forever Home for those parrots that are adoptable and provide sanctuary for those who are not.
6. Work with other similarly goaled organizations, both across the country and around the globe, in furtherance of this vision.
