Mission Statement

We advocate for and participate in the preservation, restoration and enhancement of the entire Highland Park with its world class arboretum, its historic Olmsted design and other amenities by increasing the public’s appreciation for and active engagement with its absolute uniqueness.

Description

The Highland Park Conservancy was founded in 1994 by a group of citizens interested in promoting the public understanding of and appreciation for the value of Highland Park, and to ensure the preservation of the Frederick Law Olmsted-designed park landscape.

Today, the Conservancy works in partnership with Monroe County to provide stewardship for Highland, the premier park in Rochester's park system. We are the official 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, all volunteer organization established to preserve the park's unique heritage and to promote its vast horticultural, educational, and recreational elements that have disappeared from the park's landscape. Our volunteers conduct free tours and offer educational programming to the public, fund-raise for rehabilitation and restoration projects, and perform gardening tasks.

The Conservancy is currently raising funds to restore Highland Park's overlook by reconstructing the Children's Pavilion, the original, signature feature of the Frederick Law Olmsted-designed park.
