We are looking for interested volunteers to join the Walk to End Alzheimer's Ventura Event Planning Committee to help plan our 2025 event happening on Saturday, October 4, 2025.Our committee meets monthly as a team locally in our Ventura Office to work on tasks and share ideas throughout the year. As committee members you’ll be able to help on our Community Engagement Team which involves recruiting and retaining teams and cultivating former, potential and current Champions. Champions are our top fundraisers who raise $500 or more. These efforts will increase participation, which will raise revenue and awareness to help us achieve our mission. You’ll also have the opportunity to help on our Event Experience Team who is responsible for recruiting day of event volunteers, securing entertainment, infusing our mission into the event and creating a safe, fun and well-marked Walk route. Community educators Alzheimer's Association Community Educators are volunteer public speakers who provide Alzheimer's Association education programs to community audiences. Key Activities: Lead or co-lead education presentations using prepared Alzheimer’s Association consumer education programs on a variety of care and support topics. Collaborate with local Association staff to expand programs by securing community partners, scheduling presentations, delivering the programs, and managing needed materials. Serve as presenter for chapter-scheduled education programs and conferences. Connect people with additional Association services and volunteer opportunities by proactively making referrals to Alzheimer's Association programs & free 24/7 Helpline. Qualifications: Demonstrated success with health education using excellent communication, presentation and adult education skills. Comfort with computers and familiarity with email and PPT presentations. Ability to network, and collaborate with staff, volunteers, and community partners. Passionate about the Alzheimer’s Association mission with personal or professional experience with dementia preferred. Must be age 21 to apply. Background checks are required. Commitment Expected: All program volunteers participate in initial training and ongoing education and must comply with Alzheimer’s Association volunteer policies and procedures. Terms are renewable upon successful completion of annual goal-setting conversation with your staff partner. Support Group Facilitators Support Group Facilitators create a safe, open environment where people share their feelings, thoughts and experiences in a combined effort to better cope with and manage the shared problems of dementia. Support Group Facilitators: Facilitate groups of caregivers or people living with dementia to provide social and educational support helping group members provide emotional support to one another. Present pertinent Association materials and information to group members and assure a positive experience for attendees. Connect people with additional Association services and volunteer opportunities by proactively making referrals to Alzheimer's Association programs & free 24/7 Helpline. APPLY NOW The Association is seeking volunteer candidates with: Strong listening and effective communication skills with demonstrated ability to be empathic and separate personal needs from group needs. Ability to redirect and facilitate discussion as well as fulfill the Facilitator duties and responsibilities as described in onboarding. Ability to create and maintain a safe environment where participants’ thoughts and feelings are valued and group members are treated with fairness, equity and respect. Passionate about the Alzheimer’s Association mission with personal or professional experience with dementia preferred. Must be age 21 to apply. Background checks are required. Be willing to travel throughout Ventura County to facilitate a support group. This is a longer term volunteer opportunity where we expect commitment to be at least for 12-months or more, based on the nature of facilitating support groups that happen monthly
